What if my artwork is outside the dimensions stated in the Terms and Conditions?

Artworks should not exceed 15kgs in weight or 1.5 x 1.5metres excluding frame. Please contact us in advance if you have work you wish to submit that is outside these requirements and we will consider whether it could be displayed within the restrictions of the exhibition space. Judges will allow for a 20% maximum leeway on size and weight.

What age restrictions are there?

All entrants must be 18 years or over at the time of application.

Which category should I apply for, Emerging or Professional Artist?

Many artists start their careers later in life and with this in mind, there are no restrictions of age or experience on the Emerging Artist Prize .It’s what you feel you are most comfortable with. We ask that the Professional Artist Prize winner be able to mentor the Emerging Artist Prize winner through a joint exhibition the following year. Judges will certainly be looking at some exhibition experience within the Professional Prize category.

How to do I know if my application has been successfully submitted?

You will receive a confirmation email once your submission has been placed.

How do make a payment for my entry?

Payments are made directly through the school payment portal.
At the completion of your online application form you will be directed to the payment portal. Please select “other school payments” from the menu and be sure to select your category as either “emerging” or “professional”.

I am an emerging artist, in regional Australia and I cannot afford the $30 application fee.Is there any support available?

Yes, we understand that it can be expensive to enter prizes. The Ravenswood Foundation and the Platinum Sponsor, Stockland, would be happy for you to submit an email outlining your hardship with a copy of your artwork and CV. Special consideration will be given to waive the entry fee.

If you require access to a computer, internet, email or photography for your artwork to enable you to complete your entry, please make contact with your nearest Stockland Shopping Centre Management. They will be able to assist you in completing your application.

I have more than 3 images, is there a way I can submit these?

Yes, you should chose the best 3 images to submit online with your application and then you may also send an email to artprize@ravenswood.nsw.edu.au with any additional images you would like have considered.

Can I enter both categories?

No, you can only enter one category.

Can I enter more than once in a particular category?

A limit of two works (or entries) per artist may be submitted. Each artwork requires a separate entry and fee.

Does my artwork need to be available for purchase?

Yes, all works must be for sale.

Is photography permitted as a medium?

Yes, all mediums including photography are welcome.

Do I have to be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to apply?

Yes, the prize is only open to Permanent Residents of Australia and Australian Citizens. For more detailed information please refer to the Terms and Conditions of Entry. Selected finalists will be asked to provide proof of residency.

Can my agent enter on my behalf?

Yes, however the arrangements between the artist and agent will not alter the conditions of entry nor the 30% commission taken by Ravenswood should you artwork be sold.

If I am selected as a finalist, how do I get my artwork to the exhibition?

Congratulations for making the final selection! It is your responsibility to ensure that you work is delivered to the school by the dates specified and any costs associated with this are payable by the artists.

Finalist’s works are to be delivered by courier before 28 July 2017 to:

You may also deliver your artwork in person on the following dates;

Saturday 29 July, 8.00am-12.00pm
Monday 31 July 8.30am-12.00pm

The address for deliveries in person is Gate 3, Henry Street, Gordon NSW 2072. Please note that due to school traffic and playground security deliveries in person outside these times will not be permitted.

How will I know if I am a finalist?

You will be notified by email on 19th July and a list of finalists will be published online also.

I would like come to the opening night, how do I arrange a ticket?

All finalists will be given one complimentary ticket for the opening night. You may also purchase additional tickets online from 5 June 2017 http://www.ravenswoodartprize.com.au Ticket numbers for opening night will be limited so please purchase your tickets early and join us for the celebration.

How do I know if my artwork has been sold?

At the conclusion of the exhibition an email will be sent to you if your work has been sold.

What arrangements do I need to make for collecting my unsold artwork after the exhibition?

Collection of finalist’s work must be made by Gate 3, Henry Street Gordon at one of the following times;

Saturday 12 August: 1.00pm-4.00pm
Sunday 13 August: 10.00am-2.00pm
Monday 14 August: 8.30am-12.00pm

For collection via courier you must also include a return address label (A4) in an envelope attached to the back of the artwork. We will contact you when the artwork is ready to be collected.
