Our philosophy is to promote physical activity to all students and provide opportunities for participation at all levels of skill. Being involved in sport promotes both physical and mental wellbeing, builds confidence, encourages teamwork and helps facilitate friendships outside of the classroom. Sport should be fun, as well as competitive and teach students how to enjoy success and accept disappointment.

In Junior School, there are many sporting opportunities available to students ranging from House, representative and elite level competitions to group and private lessons.

House Sport

House sport includes Athletics, Cross Country, Diving, Gymnastics and Swimming. These activities are hotly contested at House carnivals and instil a strong sense of pride, teamwork and school spirit in the students.

Representative Sport

On Saturday mornings, Years 3–6 teams participate in the Independent Primary School Heads of Australia (IPSHA) competitions in a variety of sports.

These are graded competitions and students are selected into teams based on their level of skill, fitness and game knowledge. Teams train once per week under the direction of qualified and experienced coaches.

In Junior School, IPSHA provides a representative pathway to a national level for elite athletes through its affiliation with the NSW Combined Independent Schools Sports Council (NSWCIS), NSW Primary Schools Sport Association (NSWPSSA) and School Sport Australia.

For select sports such as Athletics, Diving, Equestrian, Gymnastics, Snowsports and Swimming (through the Ravenswood Swimming Club) opportunities for students to compete at regional, state and national levels are available through clubs and other associations.
