Dance at Ravenswood encourages students to be creative risk takers, trying new things while developing a wide range of dance skills and techniques. Our program caters for beginners through to our elite dance companies. All classes and companies are a yearly commitment with semester fees.
Ravenswood offers two Secondary School Dance Companies. These are audition only groups, aimed at providing our elite dancers with performance opportunities at eisteddfods and showcases. Successful students will present a high level of skill, technique and flexibility and must be available to attend a number of events throughout the year.

One of the oldest forms of dance technique focusing on posture and poise. Students who study Ballet will participate in open classes exploring a range of ballet techniques from the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), Australian Teachers of Dancing (ATOD) to Cecchetti.
This is a fun, upbeat class that provides dancers with the technique and training required to perform some of the most famous Broadway dances from a variety of musicals.
Both Contemporary and Lyrical employ unique music where the use of floor work is encouraged. These styles of dance grew in popularity with TV shows such as So You Think You Can Dance.
Has a strong link with music, with artists such as Beyonce and Justin Timberlake employing this style of dance in their music videos or live performances. Hip Hop at Ravenswood is strong and age appropriate.
A high energy and upbeat style of dance, used in television advertisements and in Musical Theatre.
This class also allows dancers to work on their singing and acting abilities. Performers will rehearse songs from musicals as a means of developing their skills.
Students will explore a wide range of Tap styles from slow to fast tap. Tap shoes are required for these classes.
This is a technique class for all levels of ability where students focus on specific dance skills. Corner progressions ensure students learn a wide range of kicks, turns and jumps used in all styles of dance, in particular Jazz and Contemporary.
This class combines Yoga and Pilates techniques to help improve student flexibility and strength. These skills are necessary for all styles of dance and will assist overall physical wellbeing.
